Presenting your new favorite coffee! The steaming cup o’ joe around which you will warm your hands on Christmas morning. Coffee that you made at home, but still tastes like Christmas in a Cup Coffee from Fancy Coffee Shop. Minus the sugar crash. Take (literally) five minutes to mix up this homemade Peppermint Coffee Creamer and you just took Christmas morning breakfast to the next level. (or any day when you just need your coffee to feel a little special)
Nine months out of the year, my standard coffee order is pretty, well, standard. And boring. Good morning, one black coffee please! Maybe half caff, maybe with cream, but that’s as jazzy as I typically get with my coffee. However, during the holidays, I want something a little more special. What I absolutely do not want is the eighteen cups of sugar that accompany those fancy coffee house drinks.
So this year, I decided to make my own. For fall, we made a Pumpkin Spice version that is pretty delightful that I’m still enjoying occasionally. But y’all, this Peppermint Coffee Creamer is my new love. It just puts me in the mood to wrap presents, in front of a fire, while Bing Crosby croons out White Christmas. Happiness, people, this coffee is pure happiness. It is Christmas in a cup. Creamy, decadent, slightly sweet, pepperminty goodness.
And for the bonus points- I won’t lie to you and tell you this is all healthy and sugar free or anything. But we are using Agave nectar as a sweetener rather than regular sugar. If you are someone that cares about where your sweeteners fall on the glycemic index, agave scores a very low 15, compared to regular white sugar that scores 100. If you are interested in more info on the glycemic index there is a good definition here. Disclaimer – I have no medical knowledge- but common sense tells us if you are looking for a treat coffee, this is certainly a better option than a sugar filled, coffee house latte. And it is DELIGHTFUL.
Merry Christmas to all, and to all , good coffee!
Happy Cooking,
Amanda
